Welome to my Blog!

Welcome to my blog! A blog about living an authentic life, enjoying the journey with all of its joys & obstacles and maintaining a positive attitude and a sense of humor through what ever is thrown our way! We all wear many "hats" in life but in order to live an authentic life we need to "TAKE OFF OUR MASKS"! This is a process of living, growing, learning lessons, overcoming hurts, tearing down walls, showing compassion, sharing kindness and loving deeply. After all, we are all "works in progress"!!

Tis' the Season

Tis’ the Season
Tis’ the season to be jolly…or so they say! Yes it is the “most wonderful time of the year”. We wish our fellow comrades a “Merry” this or a “Happy that, we hustle, we shop, we wrap we get overwhelmed, stressed and get caught up in checking off all of the boxes on our “to-do list”.  And, we love every minute of it!!
We just finished eating the last of the Thanksgiving turkey and we start preparing for the Christmas festivities. The tree is decorated and lit, the stockings are hung, the menu is planned and we makes sure all of the good little boys & girls have something special to open on Christmas morning. Christmas time is truly a spirit that fills the air of warm & fuzzy, anticipation and cheer. We look forward to carrying on family traditions and baking our family recipes and sharing quality time with family & friends. The old Christmas movies are on TV and feelings of nostalgia fill our hearts. Does anyone else get goose bumps watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer?  How about dreaming of living in Whoville during the Whovillation? Now those are some happy people!  And of course we cannot forget our beloved Frosty the Snowman! It brings me right back to my childhood.
To be brought back to that place in time when I had a spirit of a child is magical. Yes, not everyone looks upon their childhood with fond memories, but stick with me on this one! There must be a moment where you remember the excitement of that time? For me I always go back to the memory of putting out milk and cookies for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer with my Dad. What care I put into picking the perfect homemade cookie that I thought Santa would love. To wake up Christmas morning to see that he took a bite of cookie and a sip of milk was so exciting!  Ah, simpler times.
We are told to have faith like that of a child. Childlike faith sees the world as exciting and adventurous, and worth exploring. It does not have an attitude of complacency and it enables us to maintain our humbleness and enthusiasm. It is a part of us that we should never lose!  We are not to act like children towards others, but our faith and example must be authentic. Remember it is CHILDLIKE not CHILDISH! Just as a child is dependent and trusts in his parents that he will be taken care of, we must carry that trust and faith that everything will be okay.
So amongst all of the busy-ness of this season, remember to take a step back, take a deep breathe, forget all of the responsibilities for a few moments and take a look at things through the eyes of a child. No matter how old you are, never forget that there are magical moments to capture. So put on some silly Christmas songs, add some extra marshmallows in your hot chocolate, squint your eyes when looking at the lights on the tree and take time to enjoy the season.  Fa la la la la, la la la la !
